JV over Waverly in Tight Game

The Waukon JV squad faced its first tough test of the season when playing Waverly on the road.  Waukon led early on with plenty of tough defense at 10-0 and 12-2 at the end of the first quarter.  Throughout the second qtr though Waverly fought back.  The Indians went cold from the feild and went to halftime with a tie score of 16.  An up and down second half seeing Waukon even trail by 4 at one point.  The some clutch buckets came from Chelsey Dreckman and Megan Stewart both hitting a 3 point feild goal in the second half a long with a few other buckets.  Also solid play at the point position from Keisha Troendle and Erin Decker allowed the Indians to regain control and then the go ahead bucket by Chelsea McMillan with under 5 minutes in the game.  Waukon held the lead from there and made some FT’s down the stretch Winning the game 41-36.

Scoring in the game went as follows: Dreckman 12, Stewart 7, Troendle 6, McMillan 5, Brink 4, Decker,Wulner, and Blocker 2.
