Waukon Downs Kee High

Waukon played the Kee Hawks from Lansing/New Albin in Lansing Monday December 22nd.  The Indians started out hot and took the lead and never looked back winning 67-35 before a packed house.

Waukon used good patience on the offensive end versus a zone defense from the Kee Hawks, great ball movement and interior passing led to multiple buckets by Mary Halvorson early on.  The Indians led 45-21 after the first half, and then slowed things down in the second half and controled the game.

Waukon showed improvement on defense taking two  charges on the evening and good help defense overall.  Unselfishness was also key as Waukon had 15 assists on the night as a team.  They also only had 11 turnovers as team, which was a season low.

Top performers on the night were: Mary Halvorson with 21 points, and 6 rebound.  Carissa Berger had a solid game with 10 points, 5 assists and 5 steals.  Logan Hjerleid had 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Tatum Meyer played a great control game and had 8 points, 3 steals.  Jordon Reiser and Brittany Schlake both had solid games scoring 6 points each, and Kristyna Herman had 4 points and 3 rebounds.  Chelsey Dreckman and Dacia Brink also added buckets for the Indians.

Waukon looks to hit the floor again tomorrow night vs conference foe New Hampton.  9th grade game starts the triple header at 4:45 pm in Waukon.
