Waukon moves on to Semi Finals with victory over Keokuk

The Waukon Indians can say the words “Final Four” now.  Waukon defeated Keokuk by a score of 56 to 39 Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the state tournament.

Waukon trailed early 4 to 3 but then put the pressure on and went on an 18 to 2 run late into the second quarter.   They took a 15 to 6 lead at the end of the first and pushed it to 25 to 13 at halftime.

They kept the defensive pressure going throughout the third and fourth,  Keokuk cut the lead to 10 twice but Waukon responded with big baskets each time and hit their free throws down the stretch.

All players had good games for the Tribe.  Halvorson lead the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Berger had 14 points and 8 steals.  Herman had 10 points and 9 rebounds.  Meyer and Hjerlied added 8 and 7 points respectively.

    Gilrs it was an outstanding game great fun to watch, I am so glad I was there in person. I want to wish you GOOD LUCK in the next round and hope the whole town can be there to cheer you on, so Indian fans get on the bus or in your car and get to Des Moines to help those gilrs WIN that next game.
