Indians Take Down MFL

The Waukon Indians played a solid game vs the MFL Bulldogs on senior night and came away with a 58-41 win.

In a huge road contest that will prove to be a pivotol game in the conference race. Waukon pulls out a 62-43 win with a nice overall team effort and a huge third quarter which saw their six point halftime lead buldge to 20 within a matter of minutes.

Indians move into second place overall in the NEIC by themselves with only two games left to play with a record of 7-3. The Waverly Go Hawks have pretty much wrapped up the Conference title and congrats to them.

The Indians host MFL tomorrow evening and final stats and game story will come later this weekend for both games.

Indians Defeat Decorah

The Waukon Indians moved into a tie for second place overall in the NEIC with a 45-39 win over the Decorah Vikings.

Also this is the 7th straight victory over Decorah for the Tribe. In a tight defensive battle the Indians made more plays than Decorah and controlled the game in the end.

All five starters had solid games and did good things. Notable was Kristyna Herman who took 3 charging fouls in the game. Alissa Smith had a big 3rd quarter for the Tribe, Maddie Reiser had a very good game defensively in reserve action for the Indians. Mullen Wacker and Chelsey Dreckman made some big plays and shots when they counted, and Daneshia Snitker had a couple of huge drives to the basket against a nagging Viking 1-3-1 zone defense.

Indians fall to Warriors in tough game

Waukon just didn’t have enough to keep up to the Warriors hot shooting and pressure defense in the early going.

Indians Get Big Win Over Comets

The Waukon Indians got a balanced scoring attack and hit free throws down the stretch to avenge an earlier season loss to the Charles City Comets. It was also only the third loss for the Comets on the season.

The Indians got great performances out of all of its starters as four were in double digits,Mullen Wacker led the way with 17 points on the night along with team highs of 5 assists and 3 steals. Kristyna Herman showed she was gaining strength and endurance back as she posted a double double with 16 points and a team high 10 rebounds. Chelsey Dreckman also had a huge game as she scored 13 points, was 3-3 from the arc against the Comets zone defense, and chimed in with a pair of steals and assists. Daneshia Snitker was the fourth starter in double digits with 11 points. Snitker also filled the stat sheet with 5 boards and 4 assists. Alissa Smith had a solid game as well with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Madison Reiser also gave some important minutes with a bucket and 3 boards and multiple hustle plays.

Waukon moves to 5-3 in the conference and 8-4 overall on the year. The Indians travel to Caledonia tomorrow night to take on the Warriors.

Indians come up short vs Waverly

The Waukon Indians had a rough night offensively vs NEIC first place Waverly Shell Rock and Go Hawks Aftin Pyhfe was more than enough offense for the Indians to overcome.

Waukon with yet another starting lineup combination with sophmore Daneshia Snitker getting her first nod as junior gaurd Cassandra Berger had to sit out with an undisclosed foot injury. The Indians played decent defense in the early going but the ball would just not go in as the Tribe had only 8 points with 3:15 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

Waukon pushed back however and hung tough the whole game, but the Go Hawks hit almost all their free throws down the stretch and Waukon couldn’t answer late and lost by the score of 48-39

Waukon hosts Charles City Friday night.

Indians Jump on North Fayette Early and Pull Away for 4th Straight Win

The Waukon Indians have some momentum going after a 68-27 win over North Fayette Saturday afternoon.

Their full roster is finally playing and things seem to possibly be coming together at just the right time.

Waukon faces a huge four game stretch in the next 8 days. At NEIC leader Waverly Jan 18th, then hosting 2nd place Charles City on Jan 21st. Waukon lost close games to both these teams earlier in the season.

The Indians will then travel across the boarder to play year in year out Minnesota power Caledonia on Jan 22nd. Then will travel to Decorah to face the rival Vikings on Jan 25th.

Waukon was lead by Mullen Wacker with 28 points on Saturday. Chelsey Dreckman popped in 12 also for the Tribe. Daneshia Snitker led the Indians with 7 steals, and Madison Reiser was the top rebounder with 10 boards. Kristyna Herman saw limited action as she gets back in game shape and played well.

Waukon is now 7-3 on the season.
