The Waukon Indians continued there road trip with a game at Charles City on Thursday November 29th. It looked like it would be a long ride home early in the 2nd quarter as the Indians trailed 22-6 to the hot shooting Comet team who hit 4 three pointers through the first quarter and a half of the game. The Indians banded together and took a “one stop at a time” mindset and worked their way back into the game, pulling within 6 at the half 32-26.
Waukon pulled even with the Comets at 35 all midway through the 3rd period but Charles City answered with a 5-0 run to end the frame with a 41-36 lead. Waukon regrouped once again and went on a 17 to 6 run in the first five minutes of the 4th quarter to take a 55-47 lead. The Indians spread the floor and ran the clock, hit their free throws and escaped with a 58-53 victory
Daneshia Snitker did much of her same getting driving baskets from all over the floor, and Abie Mellick led a once rattled group to a confident team in the second half while scoring 6 points and swiping 5 steals. Junior Center Alyssa Collins battled another top center in the conference in Knowlton of the Comets giving up 8 points to her in the first quarter and then shutting her down to let her score only four more in the game. Collins herself scored a career high 14 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. Junior gaurd Kiersten Christianson had her best game of her young career scoring all of her career high 11 points in the second half including two huge three point shots. Eli Ronan played great defense and helped on the center once again while scoring all 5 of her points in the second half and pulling down 6 rebounds and also 3 steals. Courtney Wikan gave a great boost as well of the bench for the Tribe as they came back to win their 3rd game of the year.
