Indian Varsity split pair of games

The Indian girls basketball team traveled to Caledonia on Thursday Dec 8th to take on the always tough Caledonia Warriors.  Waukon struggled early with the Warrior pressure but finished the first half on a small run and trailed 29-22 at the halftime break.  The Indians also started off the second half hot as they cut the once 15 point defecit down to just three points trailing 45-42 with a quarter to play.  However the Warriors regained their touch and pushed their lead to finish with a 67-52 defeat of Waukon.

Sophomore forward Lauren Griffith scored a career high 17 points, swiped a team high 8 steals, dished out a team high 4 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds.  Sophomore forward Sydney Ross scored a career high 16 points while ripping down a team high 12 rebounds for her first Double/Double of the season.  Sophomore post McKenzie Cooper was just a point and rebound away as she finished with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

The Indians then played their first home game of the season on Friday December 9th as they hosted the Oelwein Huskies.  The Indians started a bit slow and traded the lead back and forth in the early going.  Late in the second period the Indians had a small surge and took an eight point lead into the halftime break.

The second half belonged to the Indians as they finished strong and handed Oelwein a 56-30 defeat. Sophomore forward Sydney Ross poured in a career high 22 points on the night to lead the Tribe.  Sophomore guard Berklee Hanson hit double figures with 10 points.
